During yesterday's debate Fred Thompson showed his commercial, which for the first time in his campaign, bashed the other candidates. With five weeks remaining before the Iowa caucuses, Thompson's video took aim at Mitt Romney for changing his position on abortion rights and Mike Huckabee for his past statements on taxes.
My opinion on this much heated topic is that candidates should, without fear or public outcry be allowed to launch negative ads against opposing candidates. Obviously, many topics are off-limits, but the whole idea should be allowed. I believe this because the people should be given the chance to see these negative ads and find out what the candidates are really like. For example, Mitt Romney changed his position on abortion so does that mean he is going to be the kind of leader who doesn't follow through on his promises. These are the kinds of questions that must be answered so that another Presidency like the on currently, never occurs.
